L-glutamine is an important amino acid for the human body. It is most abundant in muscle cells as a free amino acid and serves as the main source of energy for intestinal cells. In difficult situations such as severe illness, injury, burns and surgery, the body's own glutamine production is often unable to meet the demand. Therefore, an external supply through diet or supplements is necessary.

L-glutamic acid is a non-essential amino acid that the body can produce itself in sufficient quantities from various precursors. L-glutamic acid serves as a precursor for L-glutamine.

Among other things, L-glutamine is responsible for water retention in the cells. During physical stress, such as training, glutamine leads to an increase in cell volume and thus supports protein and glycogen formation. In addition, L-glutamine contributes to the normal function of the nerves and the intestines.
