Burgerstein Iron Plus is a premium complex specifically designed to optimize iron absorption. It contains organic iron, copper and is enriched with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12 as well as pantothenic acid, folic acid and vitamin C.
Burgerstein Iron Plus is characterized by its good tolerability and should ideally be taken regularly and over a longer period of time. The contained vitamin C promotes iron absorption, while copper contributes to normal iron transport in the body.
Iron plays an important role in the body because, as a component of hemoglobin, it is involved in the transport of oxygen in the blood and its storage. In addition, iron is also involved in energy metabolism.
The amount of iron absorbed varies depending on the food. Animal products have higher bioavailability and can provide up to four times more iron than plant foods. However, certain components in cereals, brown rice, corn, legumes and soy products can inhibit the absorption of iron. A combination of meat, fish, poultry and vitamin C can promote the absorption of iron and increase it tenfold. Therefore, it is more important to look at foods in combination than at the iron content of individual foods.
Tea and coffee, as well as calcium from dairy products, inhibit the absorption of iron. It is recommended not to drink these beverages immediately after meals.
People who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet should pay special attention to their iron balance, as they avoid meat. It is advisable to combine plant foods with foods containing vitamin C and/or citric or lactic acids. These acids promote iron absorption from other foods such as fruits and raw vegetables.
